SEXTUPLE! By Dageraad + Sooke Brewing Co. (9.0% ABV, 473 mL tall cans)

Brewed in collaboration with Sooke Brewing Co., Dageraad’s SEXTUPLE! is an abbey tripel that’s hopped like a double IPA with Motueka hops from New Zealand, Ella hops from Australia and Tettnanger hops from Germany.

“The idea came when Sooke’s head brewer, John Adair, pointed out that our two breweries together swept the Belgian Strong Ale category at the 2018 B.C. Beer Awards,” said Dageraad’s Ben Coli in a press release. “John had ideas about some hops that would go well together with Belgian yeast, so we decided to use a lot of them. We agreed that a double IPA absolutely had to be sold in a tall can format, but that an abbey tripel absolutely had to be bottle conditioned, so what to do? Naturally, the answer was can conditioning. Man, were we stoked when none of the cans exploded in our warm room.”

SEXTUPLE! will be available on Thursday, Jan. 31, at Sooke Brewing on tap, at Dageraad on tap and in cans, and will be available at select liquor stores beginning next week.

Unicorn Blanket by Foamer’s Folly + Fuggles and Warlock (9.5% ABV, 24 IBU, 650 mL bottles)

This collaboration between Foamers’ Folly and Fuggles & Warlock is a wild farmhouse ale fermented using 100 per cent Brettanomyces and blended with Sauvignon Blanc grape must. Hopped with late addition Nelson Sauvin, this funky wild ale is said to be “full of complex layers of vinous gooseberry, tropical fruit, subtle Unicorn Blanket [instead of horse blanket, get it?], and a balanced acidity.”
