A brewery in Kelowna is reaching out to the community in hopes dogs will yet again be allowed inside a taproom.

Unleashed Brewing Company says that as of February 15th, a trial period to allow dogs inside their taproom will come to an end.

“This comes after a successful 5-month trial period approved by Interior Health in August of 2022. In response to the decision, Unleashed Brewing Co. has started a petition to have the approval reinstated by Interior Health,” said Ashton Sykes with Unleashed Brewing.

The brewery has always shared a love for dogs and craft beer, and after months of petitioning throughout the summer Interior Health approved a five month trial to allow furry friends inside.

“We actually did not even think it was going to happen. We thought it would be a way bigger fight and we would have to get lawyers involved and everything,” owner Mike Prytula told Castanet back in August.

The online petition has reached over 1500 supporters within the first 24 hours and continues to grow.

“The purpose of the petition is to demonstrate and garner support from the community that has communicated how important it is to have a place like Unleashed Brewing Co. that they can visit with their dogs,” Sykes added.
