Victoria Beer Week has announced it is launching two new food-focused events along with a full curriculum of seven Beer School classes sponsored by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). The sixth annual festival celebrating Victoria’s craft beer culture includes more than 40 breweries featured in 21 separate events over nine days, March 1-9, 2019. The week opens with Lift Off! on March 1 and closes with Saturday Night Casks on March 9, both at the Victoria Public Market. Tickets are sold online at ticketrocket.co, in person at Ticket Rocket (1050 Meares St.) or over the phone at 250-590-6291 or toll-free at 1-855-842-7575.
Here’s a look at some of what’s new for this year…
Jones Bar-B-Que Parking Lot, 1725 Cook Street, Sunday, March 3 from 12-3 p.m.
Dig into a heapin’ plate of food prepared by Jones Bar-B-Que along with delicious craft beer at this family friendly, outdoor event. Tickets: $25 (including beer)/$20 (no alcohol included).
Big Wheel Burgers & Beer
Big Wheel Burger (Westside Village), Saturday, March 9 from 3-5 p.m.
Big Wheel is putting on a special menu for this burger-and-beer pairing event: a classic mini cheeseburger with beer-b-q sauce, a curry carrot and chick pea slider with roast red pepper kale slaw, and a mini Cajun poutine with a veggie ale gravy. Each dish is matched up with a beer from a local craft brewery. Tickets: $30.
Victoria Beer Week will also be offering a full “curriculum” of classes all about your favourite subject: Beer! The expanded Beer School curriculum includes a full slate of entertaining and informative classes running throughout the week at a variety of venues, with something for everyone, from the novice to the expert and every beer student in between.
