One of Victoria’s most anticipated beer festivals released its 2019 schedule this week, with an early bird discount for tickets bought before Jan. 1. Victoria Beer Week will return March 1-9, 2019, with 12 signature events around town featuring great beer, craft culture, gourmet food, trivia, science, beer education and a whole lot of fun.
The festivities begin with the annual Lift Off! VBW launch event at the Victoria Public Market on March 1, where you can be the first to taste more than 12 brand new beers from some of B.C.’s best breweries.
The Growler editor Rob Mangelsdorf (hey, that’s me!) will be hosting a travelling Long Table Brewery Tour with West Coast Brewery Tours on March 2. We’ll be visiting three local breweries to dine and drink in the actual brewery with the brewmasters, themselves, with a specially prepared beer-pairing menu from Toque Catering. If you can’t wait that long, check out The 12 Beers of Christmas, happening Dec. 20 (there’s still a few tickets left, so act fast!)
That Mangelsdorf guy will also be teaming up with the Thirsty Writer himself, Joe Wiebe, for the Ulitmate Craft Beer Quiz at Northern Quarter on March 4. See if you and your trivia team can stump the Dream Team and you could win some great prizes and bragging rights. Smartphones strictly forbidden!
Victoria Beer Week is offering a $5 early pricing discount on most tickets until Dec. 31, 2018, so needless to say, this is a great Christmas gift or stocking stuffer.
