Beer Wars registration now open

Attention beer folk, registration for the fourth annual Beer Wars charity boxing event is now open, so get your butts down to the gym.

The main event takes place April 13 at the Croatian Cultural Centre, with all net proceeds from the event going to Vancouver’s Eastside Boxing Club to fund the many social programs it offers, including after school programs for at-risk youth, victims of violence and self defense for women and LGBTQ+.

But before that happens, participants need to sign up and train at Eastside Boxing under the watchful eye of coach Dave Schuck.

“Beer Wars is a great way to get to know more people in your industry, get in amazing shape, keep your New Year’s resolutions, and above all, do good for the downtown Eastside community,” says Schuck.

Participants can expect to get run ragged, pummeled and berated on a near daily basis by Coach Dave—and love every minute of it.

Go to BeerWars.com to register. In order to participate, you must be sponsored by a brewery, and that brewery must donate 50L of beer for the main event. You also need to raise a minimum of $500 in donations.

Orientation takes place Jan. 13, 2019, at Eastside Boxing (238 Keefer Street) at 2pm. Training starts Jan. 15, with classes scheduled for both days and nights, weekdays and weekends.
