Beer to the Ground: the most anticipated new breweries in B.C., spring 2022 edition

Whenever we think we sense a slowdown in brewery openings, another bunch of newcomers pop up on social media. At this rate B.C. will soon have more than 250 breweries!

2 Dads Brewing

Victoria (2022?) Two friends, who are also both dads, have decided to up their homebrewing game and open their own brewery. 2dads.beer

Boltage Brewing

Squamish (2023) Apart from “Downtown Squamish – 2023,” little is known about the plans for this brewery. Boltagebrewing.com

Brewing August

Vancouver (summer 2022) After contract brewing for the past year, look for this brewery to open its own space close to Granville Island on the west side of the city.  Brewingaugust.com

Checkerhead Brewing

Shirley (summer 2022) Progress continues slowly at this small brewery on a rural property, located in a secluded town about 20 kilometres west of Sooke on Vancouver Island. CheckerheadBrewing.com

Grand Forks Beer Co.

Grand Forks (winter 2022) Based on photos of shiny fermentation tanks, it looks likely Grand Forks will get its very own brewery soon! Grandforksbeerco.com

Grey Fox Brewing

Kelowna (summer 2022) This will be the first truly celiac-friendly, absolutely gluten-free brewing facility in British Columbia. Greyfoxbrewing.com

Hornby Island Brewing

Hornby Island (summer 2022) This small brewery has faced major challenges trying to open on a Gulf Island, but it looks like they will finally achieve their dream this summer. HornbyIslandBrewing.ca

Hudson Brewhouse & Distillery

Victoria (2022?) This big brewpub across from the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre arena has seemed to be close to opening for a while now… Hudsonbrewhouse.com

Jordan River Brewing

Jordan River (2022?) It sure will be great to have a brewery to visit in this remote community, located halfway to Port Renfrew on the southern coast of Vancouver Island. JordanRiverBrewery.com

Lumberjack Brewing

Post & Row Brewing

Dawson Creek (winter 2022) The pandemic slowed the Post & Row taphouse’s plans to add its own brewery, but they are still working towards that goal. PostAndRow.ca

Railside Brewing

Kelowna (summer 2022) This brewery will be located right next to the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, which will make it a great destination for cyclists.

Ricochet Brewing

Tappen (summer/fall 2022) Look for this new brewery to open at the base of Mt. Bastion across beautiful Shuswap Lake from Salmon Arm. Instagram.com/ricochet.brewing

Rusted Rake Brewing

Nanoose Bay (summer 2022) No news from this farm-based brewery in a while. Hopefully that is good news. RustedRakeFarm.com

Small Gods Brewing

Sidney (spring 2022) Downtown Sidney’s Third Street is becoming a hopping beer destination with Beacon Brewing already there and Small Gods in the works right next door.
