View Royal’s 4 Mile Brewing Co. officially reopened today following three months of renovations after a fire tore through the historic brewery and pub in October.

“It’s been a long three months but we are officially open for business!” the brewery posted on social media this morning. “See you soon!”

More than 40 firefighters from the View Royal, Esquimalt, Colwood and Langford fire departments fought the blaze, saving the historic 160-year-old Tudor-style roadhouse in suburban Victoria.

“If this fire had occurred after hours when nobody was in the building and it was undetected it probably would have taken the building out,” View Royal fire chief Paul Hurst told the Goldstream News Gazette. “The sprinkler system didn’t activate because the fire was in the walls and the floor.”

Renovations were required to repair fire and water damage to the brewpub and kitchen. 4 Mile’s brewhouse was thankfully unaffected, so there’s plenty of beer to celebrate the reopening with.
