Here’s what we’re chugalugging this week…
Pomegranate Wheat Ale by Persephone Brewing
Fruited sour ale • 4.9% ABV • 473 mL tall cans
The latest addition to Persephone’s Sour Series is a Pomegranate Wheat Ale, fermented for over three months on a blend of Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus then conditioned on pomegranate purée. It promises to be “complex, tart and funky with big fruit notes.” Available for a very limited time.
Birds of a Feather by Dageraad Brewing (collab w/ Strange Fellows Brewing)
Saison • 6.9% ABV • 25 IBU • 750 mL bottles
The old world saison gets a twist from B.C.’s resident Belgophiles, Dageraad and Strange Fellows. Fermented with a classic French saison yeast and spiced with sage and cubeb berries, then dry-hopped with European hops. “Brightly herbal with fruity esters and a spicy, peppery aftertaste, Birds of a Feather is an expression of our two breweries’ love of farmhouse ales.”
In the Dark Black Lager by Doan’s Craft Brewing Co.
Black Lager • 5.0% ABV • 30 IBU • 355 mL cans
Doan’s Craft Brewing Co. has reintroduced its black lager under the name In The Dark. This smooth and flavourful light-bodied schwarzbier offers notes of cocoa, roasted barley and toast.
