Here’s what’s really in our coffee cup during our pantsless morning Zoom meeting this week…
Space Jazz by Beere Brewing Co.
Kveik Double Dry Hopped IPA • 6.5% ABV • 473 mL tall cans
North Vancouver’s Beere Brewing Co. has re-released its Space Jazz Kveik DDH IPA with what it promises to be significantly higher quantities of jazz (no word yet on whether space levels will be similarly increased). The new and improved Space Jazz is double dry hopped with Citra and Galaxy hops, and loaded with oats for a thick, “fluffy” body, and was fermented with kveik yeast for a funky orange blast. Currently available on draft and in tall can four-packs at the brewery.
Broken Wheel Pale Ale by North Point Brewing
Pale ale • 5.0% ABV • 473 mL tall cans
North Vancouver’s North Point Brewing Co. has named their new pale ale after a mishap involving their pilot brewing system, a rented truck with a faulty latch, and the Second Narrows bridge. Hopped with Amarillo and Centennial hops, Broken Wheel promises traditional citrus flavours complemented by rich caramel malt notes. “Malt forward, thirst quenching, and unpretentious, this beer is based on the recipe that our head brewer Paul first made for North Point. Like a Paul Newman Movie or a CCR track, this beer is simply a classic and proof that quality craftsmanship is the most important ingredient in making a stellar beer,” according to the brewery. Available on draft or in tall can four-packs to-go at the brewery.
Still Solo House Party by Dageraad Brewing
Kveik IPA • 7.5% ABV • 473 mL tall cans
This “imperial session” (lol) kveik IPA from Burnaby’s Dageraad Brewing is a (continued) celebration of our seemingly never-ending Covid-19 isolation. Fermented with Hornindal kveik yeast, and loaded with Amarillo, Citra, and Mouteka hops for a big floral hop aroma and juicy fruit notes “as plentiful as our abandoned sourdough starters.” Available at the brewery and online for curbside and Canada Post delivery, as well as in liquor stores across the province.
