Victoria Beer Week announced today it was cancelling its remaining two flagship events hosted at the Victoria Public Market in response to the growing COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

Lager Than Life (Friday, March 13) and Saturday Night Casks (Saturday, March 14) have both been cancelled, with refunds being issued to ticket holders in the coming days.

“In accordance with this afternoon’s announcement by the B.C. Ministry of Health we have decided to cancel [these] Victoria Beer Week events coming up this weekend,” said organizer Joe Wiebe. “Both events would approach the 250 person capacity recommendation required to establish necessary social distancing, and we want to make every effort we can to minimize the impacts of this outbreak within our community.”

Smaller events, such as Pucker Up, Brewmaster’s Brunch, Street Eats and the ongoing Beer School programming are still on.

“This announcement comes with great sadness for our team and staff, who have been working so hard to bring this series of craft beer events to Victoria, but public health and safety is our top priority,” Victoria Beer Week stated on its website. “In accordance with this new information, we must do our part to minimize the risk to our attendees, volunteers, staff and the participating breweries, vendors, and sponsors.”

Victoria Beer Week was slated to run March 6-14, 2020. More information at VictoriaBeerWeek.com
