Stanley Park Brewing presented the Stanley Park Ecology Society with a $25,000 donation tonight at the preservation group’s 32nd anniversary celebration in support of its continued park preservation efforts.

The independent non-profit charity is dedicated to supporting the preservation of Stanley Park, by organizing conservation efforts, habitat restoration, wildlife monitoring and education programs.

“Little known to Vancouverites, this small but mighty group is a leading park partner,” Stanley Park Brewing stated in a press release. “Without them, we would’ve seen the deterioration throughout the park years ago.”

SPES also advises the Vancouver Park Board and provides baseline information on conservation issues within the park, including ecosystem integrity, environmentally sensitive areas and species at risk.

Given the park is Stanley Park Brewing’s namesake and home to the new Stanley Park Brewing Brewpub and Restaurant, the brewery said its decision to support SPES “is a fitting relationship.”

“Grants, private donations, membership fees and program revenues fund SPES, without which they could not continue to do this great work,” the press release stated.
