It feels appropriate to start this preamble by commending all of the firefighters, first responders, search and rescue teams, emergency crews, healthcare workers, volunteers, and members of the community for their tireless support of those displaced by the devastating Bald Range fire.
As of press time, Highway 97 is open from 7am-7pm as a through road only, with no stopping permitted. According to updates on social media, breweries and cideries in the region appear to have been spared, however, businesses remain closed until further notice.

Coming Soon: Atomic Beer Company
It looks as though a new concept is taking over the recently shuttered Canuck Empire space! The Abbotsford brewery on King Road rather abruptly closed July 31st, after four and a half years in business.
Atomic Beer Company is billed as a “new retro inspired brewery” and is expecting to be open by late fall. According to the thus far very sparse Instagram, “the keys are in hand, and the renovations are about to begin!”

North Point Port Moody is Now Open!
In case you missed it, North Point Brewing Port Moody is officially (soft) open! Located in the former Moody Ales space at 2601 Murray Street, NP PoMo (unofficial pet name), is a welcome addition to Brewers Row. Bright and airy, there’s plenty of stylish communal seating inside and out—including around a cozy fireplace, on a comfy couch, or perched on THE most comfortably elevated bar stools. Chop & Chew’s food truck is on hand to provide comfort food alongside NP’s award-winning beer, cider, cocktails, and wine offerings. Pets are of course welcomed on the patio.

Closing Soon: Bulkley Valley Brewery
One of Smithers’ two breweries has announced its closure after eight years in business.
Originally opened as a ski shop in 2018, the space quickly turned into an aprés hangout, and the idea of a brewery was born. Since then, Bulkley Valley ingrained itself as beloved and storied gathering place, one that will be greatly missed.
Expect details of a send off from owner Dave Harris in the coming days. Wishing the entire team the very best in their next chapter.
