Salutations, craft enthusiasts and welcome to another edition of News and Notes!
Whether you live and breathe the beautiful game, or only care because Ted Lasso is a pretty good show (guilty), craft spaces throughout the province will be screening the sports for your viewing pleasure. Our friends over at the BC Ale Trail have compiled a comprehensive list of spots with a great tap list that you can check out here.
Here’s a look at other notable happenings:

Coming Soon (probably): Hastings Mill Brewing Company
Hastings Mill Brewing has been consistently teasing a spring/summer comeback on social media for just over a month now. A pop-up on the website reads:
“We are temporarily closed while we relocate and expand. Follow us on Facebook for regular updates and exciting news about our progress! We’re really looking forward to seeing you soon in a new and improved space!”
Established in 2006 in the legendary live music hotspot Pat’s Pub in the Patricia Hotel at Dunlevy and Hastings, the brewery rebranded in 2016 as Hastings Mill. The name pays homage to the steam-powered sawmill that operated in the same location in the mid-1860s. During the pandemic, the building was sold and the lease subsequently came up, necessitating the move.
The new space will be in Port Coquitlam, joining Tinhouse, Side Quest, Taylight, Poco Brothers and Patina. We’ve reached out for comment and an official opening date, but have yet to hear back.

Bittersweet News from HUBco Brewing
Some sad news out of Mission: shortly after launching a survey to seek community feedback, HUBco Brewing announced on Instagram that they will be permanently closing their doors on July 4.
“We put up a good fight, but unfortunately we are a statistic of the current economic climate,” the post reads. The brewery intends to go out with a celebration of the community that supported them, stating they will remain open for a final few weeks to pour through the rest of their beer, cider, and pizza ingredients.
Be sure to pop in, share a memory, and raise a final glass to the HUBco crew before they wrap things up for good.

Inspired by the hit song and brewed with Cascade and Vista grown at Barnside, Ocean Pearl is light, crisp and refreshing with delicate citrus and pine notes and a nice dry finish.
54-40 plays the Barns to Beaches Festival June 20th at Southlands in Tsawwassen.

Apropos of the big day this coming weekend, Foamer’s has brewed something special for all the dads out there! Dad Beer is a crisp pilsner hopped with Cascade, giving it a pleasant floral and citrus aroma with nice bread backbone. This one sits at 5% and 25 IBU and screams, “Happy Father’s Day!”
