They’re bringing in “a comfortable and relaxed dining experience” from the suburbs

A Port Coquitlam brewery is making the trek downtown with a new restaurant located in Vancouver’s core.

Taylight Brewing, which opened in August of 2018 (and was on hiatus for about a year in 2022), has put signs up at 990 Smithe St to announce a local craft beer and kitchen coming soon.

A job posting notes the new concept will be “a comfortable and relaxed dining experience with high-quality food and service.”

The space, next to the Scotiabank Theatre at Smithe and Burrard streets, was vacated by Chef Hung Taiwan Bistro last fall.

Taylight brews out of a space at 1485 Coast Meridian Rd in Port Coquitlam, where they also operate a tasting room. They also have a food truck.

On the beer side of things, Taylight’s flagship beers are made up of a pair of IPAs, a hazy pale ale, and a Czech-style pilsner. Other, more creative, brews they’ve recently made include a root beer porter, a strawberry shortcake sour, and a series called “Vibin'” which offers low-calorie and low-carb beers.
