Port Moody’s Twin Sails Brewing Co. took home the coveted Best in Show award at Okanagan Fest of Ale last weekend, with newcomer Slackwater Brewing winning the People’s Choice Award.

Twin Sails’ Would Crush raspberry wheat ale took gold in the Fruit Beer category, eventually winning Best in Show honours as well. Penticton’s Slackwater Brewing, which isn’t even open yet, won the People’s Choice Award for its What The Fog? New England hazy IPA. Slackwater, located in the former Mule nightclub in downtown Penticton, is planning on a June 2019 opening.

The Okanagan was well represented in the awards, with Kelowna’s Kettle River Brewing and BNA Brewing both winning golds, as well as Penticton’s Bad Tattoo Brewing.

“We were thrilled to once again have such an esteemed panel of judges here with us at the festival,” says Warren Everton, Okanagan Fest of Ale judging chair. “They had a difficult job tasting and evaluating 127 different beers and ciders to determine the best entries in 12 different categories and then to agree on the overall Best in Show award. The winners represent an amazing collection of the best beer and ciders around. These are well worth keeping an eye out for at your local liquor store, restaurant or tap room.”
