Standup Comedy at Bulkley Valley Brewery (Smithers)

Bulkley Valley Brewery is hosting live stand-up comedy featuring professional comedian Daryl Makk, who can been seen/heard on The Comedy Network, CBC, Just for Laughs and SiriusXM. 9-11pm, tickets $20 at Eventbrite.ca.

Island Luau at Mount Arrowsmith Brewing (Parksville)

Celebrate the end of Dry January with Island Luau from 4–9:30pm, because why the hell not! Anela Kahiamoe playing be playing Hawaiian tunes from 6–8:30pm, and Beergaritas and Sour Blue Hawaiians will be on special all night for $7. Wear your best Hawaiian attire and get $5 Mount Arrowsmith pints all night. Free entry.

Love Potion Release Party at Ace Brewing Co. (Courtenay)

Royston Nano Brewery has teamed up with Ace Brewing Co. to produce Love Potion Hazy IPA, all the proceeds of which will benefit YANA Comox Valley and B.C. Children’s Hospital Oncology. Come down to Ace starting at 5pm to celebrate the release of this Sabro hop-imbued juice bomb with a pint or a growler fill. Free entry.

 

Saturday, Feb. 1

Broken Brothers live at Whitetooth Brewing (Golden)

Broken Brothers is a roots/Americana inspired duo, whose melodies and haunting harmonies immerse you in a time when music has soul. 3-6pm, free entry.

 

Sunday, Feb. 2

Super Bowl Sunday (various locations)

Pretty much every brewery with a television or a projector screen will be showing the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers, so I’m not going to bother listing them all here. Pregame starts at noon, with kickoff at 3:30pm. Can’t wait to see what abomination Budweiser and Coors have brewed up for their annual big budget Super Bowl ad.
