BC Beer Con: B.C.’s largest-ever craft beer conference coming to Vancouver Oct. 17-18

Whether you work in the craft beer industry or just really love craft beer, you are going to want to keep BC Beer Con in Vancouver on your radar this October.

Hosted by the BC Craft Brewers Guild, BC Beer Con —a.k.a. the 2019 BC Craft Brewers Conference—is a two-day meeting of the craft beer minds packed with parties, seminars, a trade show and keynote speeches from some of the most respected industry professionals on the continent.

“Our goal is to deliver an exceptional educational experience along with a networking opportunity that will satisfy the vast range of conference attendees from brewing experts, to home brewers to beer enthusiasts,” says BC Craft Brewers Guild Executive Director Ken Beattie in a press release. “This coupled with satellite events and a famous after party makes this conference a must-attend event for the entire beer community.”

While the conference, which takes place Oct. 17 and 18, is naturally targeted at people working in the craft beer industry, there’s plenty of stuff for those looking to get into craft beer, homebrewers and us regular ol’ beer lovers, too.

Firstly, there will be beer—obviously. You can’t have a craft beer conference without craft beer. And in particular, the kickoff event and after party will be a lot of fun. So expect a lot of very good beer.

The educational seminars will also be of interest to anyone wanting to learn more about beer and how it’s made. For example, Chad Yakobson of Denver’s Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project will be doing a seminar on brewing with Brettanomyces yeast and mixed cultures, which is kind of a big deal. And Beau’s Brewing’s Steve Beauchesne and the crew from Blind Enthusiasm in Edmonton will be sharing their stories about how they got their start.

For the industry folks, there’ll be a trade show with more than 60 exhibitors from across North America, seminars on marketing, sales, social media, production, brewing technology, and lots of networking.

BC Beer Con takes place at the Harbour Convention Centre (760 Pacific Blvd., Vancouver) and more than 600 attendees from all over the Pacific Northwest are expected to come.

Tickets are on sale now, with all-access early bird discounted tickets for $199 until Sept. 15 (regularly-priced tickets are $249 starting Sept. 16). BC Craft Brewers Guild Members receive a $50 discount on all-access tickets.
