Here’s what we’re spending our rent money on this week…
Hop Devil Fresh Hop Kellerbier by Strange Fellows Brewing
4.9% ABV • 23 IBU • Draught only
Fresh hop beer season is upon us and Vancouver’s Strange Fellows Brewing has decided to forego the typical IPA and pale ale offerings and instead do a fresh-hopped kellerbier, a fairly obscure German amber lager style that’s unfiltered and barrel-conditioned. Fresh Saaz hops from the Pemberton Valley were used in the beer, which promises a “perfumy floral hop character with soft malt sweetness.”
TART STRAWBERRY & RHUBARB IPA by R&B Brewing Co.
6.2% ABV • 48 IBU • 473 mL tall cans
This kettle sour by R&B Brewing Co. in Vancouver is made with strawberry and rhubarb puree and hopped with a blend of Mandarina Bavaria, Lemon Drop and Citra hops making for a “bright, juicy and refreshing, slightly soured IPA.” Brewed with spelt and fermented with Kveik yeast.
Rye’d the Lightning by Foamers’ Folly Brewing Co.
5.0% ABV • 17 IBU • 473 mL tall cans
This amber ale with ginger and lime by Pitt Meadows’ Foamers’ Folly Brewing Co. offers a spicy ginger aroma with flavours of peppery rye, tangy lemon and lime zest, and a light bready finish. Features Columbus hops, along with a grain bill of Maris Otter, honey malt, rye and crystal malt.
