Here’s what we’re pairing with oversized hats and sunblock this week…
Venture Mango Passionfruit Sour by Mariner Brewing
Fruited sour ale • 4.2% ABV • 5 IBU • 473 mL tall cans
The latest installment of the Venture fruited sour ale series by Coquitlam’s Mariner Brewing is just tropical enough to make you forget that you haven’t had a proper vacation in almost a year and a half. Brewed with 700 pounds of mango and passion fruit, the brewery promises “this perfectly balanced and fruit forward sour is great for the sunny days ahead!” Now available in the brewery tasting room on draft, in cans, crowlers and growlers, with tall can four-packs hitting select liquor stores in B.C. this week.
North Pacific Brown Ale by Fraser Mills Fermentation Co.
Brown ale • 5.3% ABV • 25 IBU • 473 mL tall cans
Malt-forward beers are great any time of year, in our opinion, and this North American take on the classic English brown ale from Port Moody’s Fraser Mills Fermentation Co. is no exception. You can expect notes of caramel, coffee, and dark chocolate, with a roasty character balanced by some subtle hop bitterness to clean up the finish. “A perfect summer beer for dark beer fans!” according to the brewery.
Beach Umbrella by Smugglers Trail Caskworks
Fruit ale • 5.5% ABV • 473 mL tall cans
This light, refreshing ale by Langley’s Smugglers Trail Caskworks is packed with tangy passion fruit and sweet pineapple. The tropical fruit is accentuated by fruity kveik yeast and citrusy Pacific Northwest hops. Available at the brewery tasting room on draft and in tall cans.
