Here’s what we’re tossin’ back this week…
Things We Don’t Say IPA by Barkerville Brewing
Hazy IPA • 6.5% ABV • 473 mL tall cans
This dank and juicy IPA from Quesnel’s Barkerville Brewing is a fundraiser supporting mental health, with partial proceeds donated Hope For The Day, a non-profit movement empowering the converstation on proactive suicide prevention and mental health education. From the brewery: “This industry can definitely be stressful and taxing in many ways. We have all been there at one time or another, struggling. (Heck, we’ve cried at work multiple times!) The recent revelations of widespread sexism, discrimination, and worse in our industry have also had an impact on us all in one way or another. But that is not the only reason we feel it is important to participate in this initiative; we want to remind everyone that it’s OK not to be OK. It’s OK to speak your truth, and ask for help when you need it.”
Kabuya by Foamers’ Folly Brewing
Witbier • 5.0% ABV • 13 IBU • 473 mL tall cans
This collaboration with Chef Jean Jacques Kabuya of Salt + Sear Catering by Pitt Meadows’ Foamers’ Folly Brewing is inspired by Kabuya’s Zambian mother’s frequent use of mango in the kitchen. Featuring mango, raspberry, orange peel and coriander, this summery witbier promises to be an endlessly crushable companion to backyard barbecues and picnics in the sunshine. Chileshe!
Pamplemousse Pale Ale by Howe Sound Brewing
Pale Ale • 4.8% ABV • 355 mL cans
This collaboration between Ride BC by Squamish’s Howe Sound Brewing will see $2 donated from every six-pack go towards building and maintaining local mountain bike trails. The beer itself is a refreshing pale ale with a hint of grapefruit, perfect for post-ride pints. Six-packs are available from the brewery, at private liquor stores and at Howe Sound’s online store.
