Here’s what we’re going to be gulping back this week…
Talanoa by Steel & Oak Brewing Co.
5.6% ABV • 650 mL bottles
According to Steel & Oak, Talanoa is the Fijian word for sharing stories and ideas in order to nurture understanding and build relationships. Designed and brewed by the women of Steel & Oak for its annual Women’s Charity Brew and Fundraiser, partial proceeds from Talanoa beer sales will be donated to The Kettle Society, a non-profit that helps people living with mental illness by providing housing, support and raising awareness of mental health issues. The beer was conditioned on black currant puree and rosemary and pours a striking bright red colour, with aromatic notes of fresh gooseberry, passion fruit, and floral notes of carnation and rose. A sweet earthy taste with a hint of rosemary and pine, Talanoa was fermented with an American ale yeast so it finishes clean and fruity. 650 mL bottles of Talanoa will be available for purchase at the Steel & Oak tasting room and local liquor stores.
