The once-bustling beer business has been listed for sale

The funkiest brewery on the North Shore is no more.
House of Funk Brewing has ceased operations at its brewery and taproom at 350 Esplanade E in North Vancouver.
A note on the inside of its front door reads: “closed.”
“Sadly we have made the decision of closing our doors. We hope that this is not the end, but it is the for-now,” the note reads. “We love you all and appreciate all the love and support and good times you have given us.”

There’s also a listing posted to Realtor.ca to sell the business.
“Unique opportunity to own a brewery, taproom & kitchen business in North Vancouver,” the listing states. “This is a popular brand, located in the well known Shipyards Brewery District of Lower Lonsdale. If you are looking to get into the beer business, this is perfect for you.”
The business is being sold for just less than $500,000, with a base lease rate of $7,240 per month.
While business appeared to be on the up after House of Funk opened in 2019, the brewery has been open about its struggles over the past several months.
In May, the brewery announced on social media that it was changing its name to House of Pandemonium, which drew a mixed response from supporters.
But in July, House of Funk changed its name back.
“For context… we gave ‘House of Pandemonium’ a shot and it was done with the intention of improving revenue – because to be frank, this past year has been tough,” the brewery posted on its Instagram.
Also in May, some of the House of Funk co-founders launched another business, House of Lager, in Squamish.
North Shore News has reached out to the brewery for comment.
