Welcome to The Growler’s fourth annual B.C. Craft Beer and Cider Readers’ Choice Awards, AKA the Growlies!
The Growlies are B.C.’s only province-wide craft beer and cider readers’ choice awards, celebrating every style of awesome craft beer and cider B.C. has to offer. Unlike traditional beer awards, the Growlies will be decided by YOU, the beer and cider-drinking public.
Between June 20 and July 5, 2022, you can vote online for the beers, ciders, breweries and cideries you think are the best in B.C. Your votes will determine the winners in each category.
With the help of our panel of craft beer and cider experts, we’ve narrowed the field to 8-10 nominees in each beer or cider style category. And if you don’t like our choices, you can write in your own picks instead!
Once the polls close, the final votes will be counted to determine a winner for each category. The results will be published in The Growler’s Fall/Winter 2022 issue, out Sept. 1, 2022.
We’re pleased to confirm prizes for our readers who complete at least 50% of the questions in the survey. Winners will be selected by random draw once the voting has closed.

Methodology
Award winners are decided by a two-part process. First, a panel of close to 20 craft beer and cider experts from across the province—including Cicerones, certified beer judges, craft beer journalists and industry insiders—weigh in on what beers and ciders they would like to see nominated, in order to narrow the field to approximately 10 nominees in each beer style category. Judging criteria focuses on the overall impression of the beer or cider, as opposed to adherence to a specific style. Participating experts can nominate as many beers/breweries/ciders/cideries as they would like. The nominations are then tallied, vetted for style suitability and production eligibility, and then compiled into a curated nomination list for each category. Preference is given to packaged releases, as opposed to limited draft-only releases. Each category has a minimum of one nomination from Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Interior B.C.
Once the short list of nominations for each category has been created, the public will get to have their say. Via an online poll, anyone can vote for which beer/brewery/cider/cidery they think is tops in the province. Voters aren’t limited to the nominations, however, and can write-in a beer or cider if they feel it should be considered.
The online poll closes July 5, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. The final votes will then be counted to determine a winner for each category. The results of the Growlies will be published in The Growler’s Fall/Winter 2022 issue, out Sept. 1, 2022, and online at TheGrowler.ca.
