The people have spoken. Langley’s Camp Beer Co. has been voted Best Brewery in B.C. along with a swath of other honours in this year’s Growlie Awards. I can’t say it’s a big surprise—since opening late in 2019, Camp has established itself as a local favourite as well as a destination among craft beer lovers from elsewhere in the province. And this is actually the second time Camp has been named B.C.’s Best Brewery in these pages (see 2023).
The path to Camp’s success is no secret: it starts with a solid and diverse beer list that includes B.C.’s favourite dark lager (Vienna Lager), which tied for second in voting for B.C.’s Best Beer. The venue itself is a big part Camp’s popularity, too, thanks to a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options, regular events, a top-notch kitchen, and good vibes all round.
Camp’s story is one of perseverance and dedication. After opening in December 2019, little did they know their plans would be upended by the pandemic (like so many of their fellows), but they rolled with the punches and adapted. Along the away, Camp developed a stronger and stronger reputation: the brewery won the BC Ale Trail’s Best Brewery Experience Award in 2022 and was named Brewery of the Year at the 2025 BC Beer Awards.
Camp Beer Co. has earned a fanbase that goes beyond mere dedication. The word “fanatic” seems more accurate. If you’ve never been there, go check it out some time. You might just find yourself voting for them next year. —Joe Wiebe
