Factory Brewing set to open doors

Vancouver is getting another craft brewery, and this one will be dedicated to brewing other people’s beers. Factory Brewing is a 5,000-litre, purpose-built, collaborative contract brewery designed for craft beer brands that don’t have their own brick-and-mortar breweries, or existing breweries that can’t keep up with demand.

The new brewery will include a full packaging line and quality control lab, and is designed to help craft breweries expand their business operations.

“Unlike other contract breweries, Factory is completely collaborative,” said co-founder and CEO Andrew Harris in a press release. “Our brewers work with our partner breweries every step of the way. We’re like their assistant brewers.”

Heading up Factory’s brewing operations will be brewmaster Andres Palma, former director of brewing at Vancouver’s Molson brewery, and head of operations Rick Dellow, founder of R&B Brewing.

Factory will launch with 11 brewery partners, including East Vancouver’s Doan Craft Brewing Company.

“Factory is a dream come true for us,” said Evan Doan, Doan’s co-founder and brewmaster, in a press release. “It eliminates the struggle of maintaining endless production of our core brands, and will provide us a little more financial freedom.”

Factory Brewing is expected to open later this spring, but in typical craft brewery fashion, the official opening date is TBD. For more info, visit Factory.beer.

Bridge Brewing kitchen reopens

Do you like tacos? Of course you do, everyone does!

You’re in luck, then, because Bridge Brewing Co. in North Vancouver recently finished renovations to their kitchen and they are now serving delicious tacos in their tasting room. There’s rotating beef, chicken, and veggie options, all designed to pair well with their beer. Definitely worth a trip across the pond (and by pond, I mean Burrard Inlet).
