Brews News: New releases from P49, Foamers' Folly and Big Rock

Here’s a look at what we’re drinking this week…

TRASH PANDA

Get Trash-ed

Parallel 49 is launching its first-ever hazy Northeast-style IPA in cans. Trash Panda (5.5% ABV, 55 IBU) features Cashmere, Loral, Simcoe and Citra hops with some pretty serious dry-hopping to crank the juicy dank-ness to 11. For those unaware, “trash panda” is a hilarious name for the ubiquitous raccoon that roots through our garbage. According to P49, “Don’t be fooled by this bandit’s cute little mask – this snarling vermin won’t leave any can unturned.”

Trash Panda will be joining P49’s roster of core brews and will be available on draft and in 355mL cans pretty much everywhere.

Hot stuff

The weather might be getting cold outside, but Foamers’ Folly in Pitt Meadows is heating things up with their recently released Jalapeno Galaxy IPA. This spicy little number pairs fresh jalapenos with citrusy Australian Galaxy hops and a malty backbone, coming in at 6.4% ABV and 65 IBU.

Available on draft and growler fills at Foamers’ Folly (19221-122A Ave., Pitt Meadows).

The flavour is bottomless…

Big Rock’s Hopopotomus IPA (6.8% ABV, 75 IBU) is big on flavour, thanks to copious amounts of Northwest hops and an extended stay on oak. Characteristic citrusy hop flavours give way to sweet notes of vanilla and caramel for a creamy finish. At 75 IBU, it packs a wallop of hops, but roasted malts and oak sweetness help balance things out.

Available on draft and in 650mL bottles (limited release).
