On tap: new releases from Luppolo, Streetcar and Bright Eye

Here’s what we wish we were drinking with our friends at the tasting room this week (sigh)…

La Piazza Italian Pilsner by Luppolo Brewing

Italian pilsner • 5.0% ABV • 473 mL tall cans

East Vancouver’s Luppolo Brewing has brought back its classic Italian pilsner, now available for the first time in tall cans. This Old World pils features 100% pilsner malt and is dry-hopped (that’s what makes an Italian pilsner Italian, BTW) with Hallertau hops for a “floral and resinous hop profile.” Available now in the tasting room on tap and for growler fills, with 473ml tall cans being released tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 13).

Lager • 5.2% ABV • 22 IBU • 473 mL tall cans

Streetcar Brewing’s new canning machine is up and running, which means you can now get Lo-Lo Lager in tall cans at the Lo(wer) Lo(nsdale) tasting room in North Vancouver. Brewed with orange zest and Amarillo hops for a citrusy kick.

Black + Blue by Bright Eye Brewing

Blackberry Blueberry Sour • 5.5% ABV • 0 IBU • Draft, 946 mL crowlers

Sweet and sour come together in a beautiful way in this gorgeous sour ale. 2020 left Kamloops’ Bright Eye Brewing feeling “pretty bruised up, so we felt it was appropriate to brew up Black + Blue. A nice balance of sweet and tangy will help ease the sting of the gong show that was 2020.” Available at the brewery tasting room on draft and in 946 mL crowlers.
