On tap: New releases from Four Winds, Old Yale and Bad Dog

Here’s what we’re lining up for, six feet apart, with our masks on, this week…

Pomona by Four Winds Brewing

Pomona by Four Winds Brewing

Fruit sour • 7.5% ABV • 750 mL bottles

Delta’s Four Winds Brewing is releasing its 2020 edition of Pomona, a foeder-aged sour ale fermented with Lactobacillus and Brettanomyces, as well as 4,000 pounds of nectarines and apricots. “We designed this recipe to let the fleshy, tart stone fruits dominate the palate,” states the brewery. “The beer already has the flavour of apricots before we add the fruit due to the combination of hops, yeast, and bacteria. The pit of the apricot gives the beer a subtle, bitter almond flavour that plays nicely alongside the sharp acidity and bright fruit.” Pomona is on sale now at Four Winds’ tasting room for take-out and is available to purchase online for local beer delivery and shipping across B.C.

Ancient Grain Belgian Saison by Old Yale Brewing

Ancient Grain Belgian Saison by Old Yale Brewing

Saison • 5.5% ABV • 473 mL tall cans

This collaboration between Chilliwack’s Old Yale Brewing and Anita’s Organic Mill features raw einkorn grain, spelt and rye, providing a depth of nutty, spicy flavour, according to the brewery. The addition of Grains of Paradise offers a subtle black pepper and citrus-like note, culminating in a dry, refreshing finish. Available for delivery from Old Yale’s online store.

Peel Out by Bad Dog Brewing
