Goodwill Lager by Bomber Brewing (collab with the Parkside Brewery)

Helles lager • 4.9% ABV • 473 mL tall cans

Drink for a cause this holiday season with this collab between Bomber Brewing and the Parkside Brewery—$1 from every beer sold is being donated in toys to the Salvation Army’s annual toy drive.

The beer itself is a lightly-hopped Munich helles Lager and will be served at all Vancouver Donnelly Group pub locations. Last year the campaign raised more than $10,000, and this year the Donnelly Group is hoping to top that number by donating another $1 every time someone posts a photo of their Goodwill Lager on social media with the hashtag #morebeermoregifts. The Donnelly Group Toy Drive is now in its 19th year with total donations of toys and funds close to $1 million over that period. To learn more, visit MoreBeerMoreGifts.com.

Imperial IPA • 8.7% ABV • 88 IBU • 473 mL tall cans

This massive old school IPA by Central Saanich’s Category 12 Brewing is back just in time for the holidays. Subversion packs a big citrusy hop punch and an ample malt backbone to back it up—but be careful, that high ABV can sneak up on you. Available at select private liquor stores on Vancouver Island and at the brewery tasting room.

Dark sour ale • 5.0% ABV • 10 IBU • 473 mL tall cans

This dark sour ale by Abbotsford’s Old Yale Brewing was inspired by Black Forest cake, offering a rich, deep malty body with chocolate flavours, balancing the acidic touch of sour cherries. According to the brewery, it’s “deceptively drinkable and unexpected, this limited small batch release pairs perfectly with a cold, crisp winter evening.”
