VCBW launches collab brew
Vancouver Craft Beer Week is here and this year’s annual collab brew is out and it is delicious. The four breweries that make up Port Moody’s Brewers Row—Moody Ales, Parkside, Twin Sails, and Yellow Dog—teamed up to create Hazy Pale, a hazy pale ale brewed with passionfruit and guava.
This saucy little number is hopped with some fairly uncommon varieties, like El Dorado, Hull Melon and Idaho 7, and the result is a juicy, fruity, refreshing pale ale. Definitely crushable on a hot summer day at 5% ABV.
The beer was brewed at Yellow Dog and partial proceeds from sales are going to the SPCA, which is nice.
The 2017 VCBW Collaboration Beer is available on draft at participating venues and in tall cans at better bottle shops and liquor stores.
Dageraad tasting room opens
Dageraad Brewing in Burnaby celebrated its third anniversary in style this month with the official opening of its super swanky new tasting room.
Located just steps from Production Way-University Station on the Millenium Line, the 50-seat room is a huge improvement over the previous serving area, which was about the size of a walk-in closet, with an additional picnic table in the adjoining warehouse.
The new room features tons of space, long communal tables and an upper mezzanine level overlooking the bar below. Definitely worth a trip out to Burnaby.

Flights takes off
Vancouver Is Awesome’s craft beer web series, Flights, is back for its second season.
The series visited Bomber, Four Winds, Strange Fellows, Bridge, Brassneck and Steel and Oak in the first season, and kicked off the second season with a visit to Trading Post Brewing Company in Langley.
“The goal of Flights is to showcase the incredible creativity and diversity in the industry while giving craft beer fans a behind the scenes look at their favourite breweries,” says producer James Ryan. “We’re trying to turn more people onto their local scene by telling unique stories about it.”
