Liver, don’t fail me now!
There’s no shortage of fantastic craft beer events taking place across B.C. this weekend. Things kicks off on Friday with the Tapped Craft Beer Festival at Mount Washington on Vancouver Island, with 15 breweries taking part, along with live entertainment and tacos (and who doesn’t love tacos?!). The view from Mount Washington’s Raven Lodge is pretty spectacular, too.
In Vancouver, the Farmhouse Saison and Wild Ale Festival returns to the UBC Farm with 66 breweries and cideries celebrating, “the funky, the fruity, the peppery, the estery, the tart, the dry, and the sour.” If you’re reading this and you don’t have tickets yet, well, you’re too late. It sold out ages ago because it’s awesome and now you’re going to miss it because of your poor planning.
The Pemberton and Squamish music festivals have both sadly called it quits, but if you’re looking for another massive party worth heading up the Sea-to-Sky Highway for, then might I suggest the Squamish Beer Festival. More than 50 craft breweries will be on hand, pouring 200+ beers in the shadow of the Stawamus Chief. Don’t even think about driving: Canadian Craft Tours is running a shuttle bus to the event from downtown Vancouver so you can leave the car at home, where it belongs.
Running Friday to Sunday, the Phillips Backyard Weekender is the place to be in Victoria with good beers, good food, good music and good times. This year, the parking lot party (celebrating its fifth anniversary!) at the brewery on Government Street will feature two stages, with close to 20 bands performing over the course of the weekend, with Sacramento rockers Cake headlining. Legit.
Red Truck Beer Co. is also throwing a parking lot party at their brewery (which is apparently a thing now, and we totally approve), next weekend, with Drake White and the Big Fire headlining the second installment of the Red Truck Beer Truck Stop Concert Series on Saturday, July 15. So if you’re still alive after this weekend, go for it.
Whatever you’re doing this weekend, make sure to slap on that sunscreen, and don’t drive, because that would be stupid.
