Bells and Whistles opens in the Fraserhood
The team behind Metro Vancouver restaurants Wildebeest, Bufala and Lucky Taco are getting into the craft beer game with Bells and Whistles, which opened last week at Fraser and East 17th in Vancouver. The beer hall boasts 21 taps of beer and cider and a games room with Skee-Ball, hoops and foosball tables and complimentary Happy-Hour plays.
“Our mission is to bring a restaurant that is anything but ordinary to the Fraserhood,” says co-founder Nick Miller. “We’ve gone to great lengths to design an out-of-the-box, approachable space and we’re excited to introduce a whole new concept not only to the area, but to Vancouver as a whole.”
The menu was designed by Wildebeest executive chef Alessandro Vianello, featuring ballpark-inspired favourites like burgers, chili and garlic fries, soft-serve ice cream, as well as tacos and fresh salads. Expect some pretty crazy craft beer concoctions, too, like imperial stout floats and citrus-forward IPA soft-serve beer pairings and frozen radler slushies.
Moody Ales turns 3
Port Moody’s original craft brewery is turning three years old this Saturday and they are celebrating in style. Moody Ales will be pouring 15 unique and limited edition beers for the event, along with live music, food trucks, piñatas and Legos (which are supposed to be for the kids, so let them at least have a turn). And since it’s a birthday party, there’s totally going to be cake and ice cream, courtesy of Rocky Point Ice Cream.
The party kicks off at the brewery on Murray Street on Oct. 14 at noon and goes all day until 11pm.
North Shore Craft Beer Week
The first-ever North Shore Craft Beer Week is in full swing and continues until Friday, Oct. 13. Close to 20 events are planned for this week, including brewmaster dinners, guided tastings, barbecues and open houses at all the North Shore craft breweries.
